We all know about books like the Hardy boys and they can be fun to read, but if you are like me, I always need something different. I LOVE mystery novels; I have been reading them since I was able to read. I hope you find a new book and enjoy it as much as I did.

A-Z mysteries

If you are around the age of 5-8, you might like the A-Z mystery novels. They are a series of 26 books and in each book, three kids, Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose solve mysteries, like finding a stolen jewel and uncovering secrets about a haunted island. You don't have to be a young kid to read these, either. I still enjoy these books, even though they are meant for younger kids. They are short, easy to read, and they are written really well. One of my favorite parts about the books, are the maps at the front. It shows the whole town and you can see where the main characters went throughout the story. These are a very good series and probably my favorite mystery series of all time.

Encyclopedia Brown

Next, another one of my favorites, Encyclopedia Brown. This is another series where a genius boy (who is said to have an encyclopedia in his head) uses his brain to solve mysteries all around his town. I like this series because the ends usually surprises me and it is interesting to see the clever ways he solves the mysteries. The only problem I have with this book is that the author has created so many Encyclopedia Brown books, the stories get a little repetitive. This is another book series that both younger and older readers would enjoy, Each book contains 3-4 stories and are relatively easy to read. I hope you read at least one of these books, because it is worth it.

Howard Wallace, P.I

I've already done a review on this book (See Review: Howard Wallace, P.I), but it is definitely one of my favorite mystery novels of all time. I would recommend this book to ages 8 to adult, because I think most age groups will find it as interesting as I did.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

They say, save the best for last and in this case, I agree. Lemony Snicket (Daniel Handler) is the most clever and captivating authors ever. You have probably heard of this series, but if you haven't read it, drop everything you are doing right now and read it. That is how good this series is. This is seriously one of the funniest book series (after Percy Jackson) that I have read, simply because of the style of writing and the different personalities of the characters. This is the kind of book series where you can spend hours and hours, reading it and still not get bored. A lot of people don't see this as a mystery book, but in each book Count Olaf comes up with a different scheme to kill the Baudelaire children and each time, the Baudelaire children must uncover mysteries to figure out how to stop him. The series is for older children to adults. This is one of my favorite series of all time and I hope you enjoy it too.

I hope you found a good mystery novel/series that you would like to read! :)
