Just so you know, this does contain spoilers

I love pretty much every single book written by Stuart Gibbs, but this book stood out to me. Probably because either I like suicide mysteries or because I like Sci-fi books. I just thought that the plot was so creative, fun and scary at times. I also thought that the main character, Dash, did pretty much what I would do in the story, except I probably wouldn't have been as daring as him. I just thought it was done really well and I liked how little bits of the manual/brochure for the Moon Base Alpha (MBA) was put into the book. I actually had a hard time putting it down and I thought it was really creative because he did a really good job in guessing what the future would probably be like. It was really entertaining and I had a lot of fun reading it.

The plot is pretty straightforward. Dashiell Gibson is on a small spacecraft called Moon Base Alpha, which is the first colony on the moon ,yet it is the most boring place in the world for him. There are barely any other kids his age, the food is almost tasteless, and he isn't allowed to go anywhere other than school and his room. Yet when Dr. Holtz, the base director of MBA appears to commit suicide by going out of the air lock., Dash is ready to jump on to the case especially when Zan Perfonic, a temp in the base decides to help him and gives him things to investigate. He tells Kira Howard, a lunarnaut his age about the investigation and she jumps on the case. There might not be a lot o people on MBA, but every one of them seems to have something against Dr. Howard. The psychologist seems to be mad at Holtz for denying him access to the spacecraft, Chang Hi-tech, geochemist, feels that Holtz stole an idea from him, Daphne, the base robotistic, is typing code in to the computer when she is supposed to be controlling the robotic arm, and Lars Sjoberg blames Holtz for his lousy experience at the MBA. Soon they find them selves on the moon running from a robotic arm which is being controlled by the murderer.

Maybe another reason I like this book is because I like reading out fictions where the main character is in a totally different world or environment, which is why I have read Harry Potter 4 times. Even though I have a lot of favorite parts, my favorite is when they find out that Daphne is a spy and she immediately cracks and tells the whole spaceship in less than 10 minutes once they ask her what she is doing on the computer. Considering that the moment she was just asked a question by some kids and she tells the whole spaceship, she really is a horrible spy. Although I was disappointed when they announced that Garth Grisan, someone that is barely mentioned at the beginning and middle turns out to be the murderer annoys me because I was hoping it would someone who was a main suspect. I also wish that they hadn't suddenly thrown a loophole at the end and said that Zan was an alien because I would have liked them to not meet the alien race and just say, "We'll never know." because I wish it had been more about the murder and less about aliens, even though it does make sense. But really, it's such a great book that the okay ending doesn't really matter to me at all. I will give this book a four and a half star rating. I hope that you will read this book because I enjoyed it a lot and I think many tweens and teens would like this book. I hope you read and enjoy this book as much as I did :)
